Mayglass Church Co. Wexford Nearly Finished Thanks To Fundraisers!

Updated : Feb 20, 2009

Easter week is the date set for the exciting unveiling of Ballymore Church following its €300,000 updated transformation. The people of Ballymore and Mayglass have been emptying the piggy banks to raise funds to restore the 160-year-old Church to its former glory. Mayglass and Ballymore Parish Priest Fr. Murty Byrne said: “We are on the home run now. The church is a veritable construction site, but the amount of work carried out is there for all to see.”

A donated Munster jersey signed by all the Heineken cup winning team, including Eleanor and Bob Quality’s nephew, Captain Paul O’Connell, is being raffled to help raise funds for the project at Ballymore Church, April 19th at 11:30a.m. among other great prizes. Tickets cost €5 and are available from Ballycogley P.O., Hoer’s Stores, Centra, Killinick, Johnny Young Golf Shop, Rosslare, from V. Rev. Murtagh Byrne, P.P., Ballymore, committee members and other local outlets.

Paul O’ Connell, The Irish and Lions international rugby player presented his aunt, Eleanor Quality from Mayglass Co. Wexford, with a Munster rugby jersey signed by the whole Munster team prior to flying out from Shannon airport to play Montaubon in the Heineken Cup qualifier.

VeryHappyPig says these local stories just go to show how great Irish communities really are. It will be a proud day for the Wexford people when their hard work is seen with the stunning newly refurbished church..
