Updated : Mar 9, 2009
Family, friends and fans of folk legend Ronnie Drew gathered yesterday at Larch Hill, Dublin to plant a tree in his honour. Tree Council of Ireland’s John McLaughlin said it was a touching ceremony.
Meanwhile, Thurles-born comedian Pat Shortt is to be awarded the Tipperary Person of the Year by the Tipperary Association at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel in Dublin on April 3.
And finally, Manchester’s Irish Community want to honour George Best with a plaque at the house where he lived when he joined United as a 17-year-old
VeryHappyPig is amused, I never knew we had a Tree Council, and what is with all the awards been given out!!
