BOI €100m Green Fund And UPC Sees Upturn

Updated : Feb 25, 2009

Bank of Ireland has announced the formation of a €100m fund to finance Irish-based renewable energy projects. BOI said the fund is part of a series of initiatives totalling €200m to support projects, which reduce Ireland’s carbon footprint. The growth of renewable energy sources is vital if Ireland is to meet its target of 13.2pc of energy derived from renewables by 2010.

Meanwhile, telecommunications firm UPC has reported an increase in its Irish customer base in the last quarter of 2008. Broadband customers have risen by 9pc for the company; while its telephone customer based grew by over 19pc and digital TV growth is up just under 1pc.

VeryHappyPig might start an energy efficient telecommunications company and try to get in on the good times!
