Yacht And Crew Saved By RNLI!
Updated : Feb 24, 2009
A major rescue operation took place yesterday when a 54foot luxury yacht started to take on water and began to sink off Killiney Bay. The three crew on the yacht made the may-day call when they saw water flooding through the cabin and rising quickly.
When the Royal National Life-Boat(RNLI) got the distress call, they were quick to respond and decided to tow the yacht to safety in the marina at Dun Laoghaire. The cause of the problem was identified as being a leak around the propeller shaft.
A spokesperson for the lifeboat said ”It was a genuine call and it was something that no one could have foreseen. No one was injured during the operation and all were brought back to safety. The yacht is now under repair."
VeryHappyPig better check his yacht, just in case!
