€200,000 Road Project For Thurles Co. Tipperary

Updated : Feb 18, 2009

Thurles Councillor Michael Lowry has welcomed the beginning of works on the Cabra road in Co. Tipperary.

Following the past weeks of freak weather conditions, the recent break has allowed the council to begin their super new much needed programme of works. A spokesperson for Michael Lowry said "Further to the announcement by Deputy Michael Lowry in the week before Christmas regarding the €200,000 he had secured to allow for the completion of major road resurfacing works on the Cabra road, I am delighted to announce that work on the project has now commenced.”

Following extensive consultation with local council officials and a Thurles engineer, an overlay of the worst affected area at Ballycurrane will be done in the further weeks. Further preparatory work will also be completed on the concrete section of the road in front of the Sugar Factory before a complete overlay of the paving is laid, and drainage works done, as far as O'Meara's Oil Depot.
