Irish Life Boats In Action Saving Lives Over The Weekend!
Updated : Feb 16, 2009
The Howth in-shore lifeboat went to the rescue of a man stranded at White-Water Ruck, just north of Bailey lighthouse yesterday. A team member of the crew said “the RNLI crew was asked to assist after a member of the public alerted Gardai that a man was lying on the rocks at the bottom of the cliff.â€
The voluntary lifeboat crew transferred the 40-year-old man to the lifeboat with the helping hand of a Gardai. The injured man was then brought back to Howth Lifeboat station where a waiting ambulance took him to Beaumont Hospital. The man was disorientated and had suffered lacerations to his back.
A lifeboat spokeswoman said. “Shortly after the voluntary crew had returned to the station, they had to re-launch to come to the aid of a kite surfer who was in difficulty off Burrow beach.â€
The second man was taken aboard the lifeboat and returned safely to the beach.
Voluntary crew member of the lifeboat Lorcan Dignam said: "Busy days like today illustrate to the public how their voluntary contributions help the RNLI to continue saving lives at sea."
