Electronic Tag Fitted To Man’s Detachable False Leg
Updated : Feb 15, 2009
A man has told how he had an electronic tag fitted - to his detachable false leg.
Bret Ravenhill, 29, was given fitted with the tag to ensure he complied with a court ordered curfew after a cannabis possession conviction
.
Lucky for him though, the Group 4 security worker, who fitted the electronic tag, failed to notice that Bret’s left leg was made of metal and detachable.
Ravenhill, a forklift truck driver from Barnsley who lost the leg in a motorcycle crash six years ago, said: "Two friends were at my house when she came round and were killing themselves laughing.
"I thought she would realise straight away - but she never bothered to turn up my trouser leg or look underneath my sock. I just left things as they were for a joke."
Despite security workers checking his tag every four weeks, none noticed it was attached to a false leg.
A Group 4 spokesman commented: "It would appear that in this instance the procedure has not been followed."
