Community Art Goes On Show in NCAD
Updated : Feb 9, 2009
The National College for Art and Design (NCAD) in Thomas Street, Dublin opens next month with exhibitions from teenagers in Fatima Mansions, Rialto and St Michael's Estate in Inchicore.
The gallery was built in a rundown fire station with funding from the Education Department and Dublin City Council and is intended to bring contemporary ideas in art and design to the public. One of the first exhibitions in the gallery will feature the Pimp My Irish Banger installation next month.
The teens from disadvantages communities will showcase artwork they painted onto discarded car doors and bonnets as part of a youth education initiative.
VeryHappyPig says this is good, good, good. There should be more stuff like this in our country!
