U2 Celebtate Barack Obama At Star-Studded Concert

Updated : Jan 19, 2009

The stars were out in force for a concert to celebrate this week's inauguration of US President-elect Barack Obama in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and leadind the way were our very own U2.

Also performing were Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Usher, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige, James Taylor ad Herbie Hancock. So a good turnout in all!

As the only non-US performers, U2 lead singer Bono said that Mr Obama's election was not just 'an American dream, but an Irish dream, a European dream and an African dream.'

Mr Obama took the stage during the event to deliver a reflective speech overlooking the National Mall's reflecting pool before continuing his symbolic journey by train to the US capital, Washington, for his inauguration on Tuesday. The same route was once taken by Civil War President Abraham Lincoln.

VeryHappyPig is a fan of Obama and hopes he will be as good as everyone thinks.
