A investigation is under way after it emerged that an Aerlingus plane bound for Dublin from Chicago was damaged while it was just about to take off unbeknownst to the flight crew. Only for the quick actions of an 18 year old passenger, there could have been one hell of a disaster on Aerlingus hands!
Alex Prichodka(18) who was sitting at the window saw the Airbus 330 come dangerously close to another plane and felt a bang, he then spotted the wing was damaged from his window, seconds before take off and alerted the cabin crew that were sitting directly in front of him. The cabin crew immediately informed the captain, who in turn stopped the plane immediately and brought it back to the hanger for repairs!
A spokesperson for the US O’Hare Airport said that the Airbus 330’s wing was cracked in the incident and is currently being investigated by the AerLingus Air Safety Office!
VeryHappyPig says well done to this lad and he really should be hailed a hero..... and also fair play to the quick acting staff on the craft!
