Yarn Spinning- Deadly Spider Is Not Spining Web In Ireland

Fears that a deadly Australian Redback spider had set up home in Ireland have been declared a red herring.

Worried landscape gardener Mike Carter thought he’d uncovered the Redback’s distinctive web in a pillar at a house in Leixlip, Co Kildare. The Australian worker brought the spider to Dublin Zoo to be examined. But director Leo Oosterweghel confirmed it was not the infamous Redback. “It has the shape and I can understand the guy confused it, but it hasn’t got the telltale markings of a Redback spider,” he said.
