Eight Year Old Becomes Youngest Ever Wing-Walker
Updated : Aug 20, 2009
An eight-year-old London boy has become the world's youngest 'wing-walker'.
Tiger Brewer flew at 100mph at 1,000 feet over Rendcomb Airfield in Gloucestershire on the wing of his grandfather Vic Norman's biplane.
Tiger, from Notting Hill, has grown up around wing-walkers as Mr Norman owns the SuperAeroBatics formation wing-walking team, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The world record was previously held by Guy Mason, son of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who first wing-walked in 2001 aged 11.
Two independent witnesses watched the flight and will send their testimony to Guinness World Records who will announce the wing-walk officially as a new record.
Tiger said: "On take-off I was scared. From one to 10 it was probably a nine, but when I was in the air it was probably a five.
"It felt amazing, like I was on top of the world. It was cold and windy but it can't be beat. You don't have a parachute, just a pair of goggles."
Tiger's mum Zoe has been wing-walking from a young age and his sisters Star, 14, and five-year-old Flame were there to watch.
Tiger's Dad Colin, who has legally changed his name to Happy Birthday, said: "I wasn't scared for him physically, just emotionally. He was nervous and although he acts like a big man he is only eight.
"But he just kept repeating his mantra 'go away fear' and he did it. We are immensely proud of him. He wanted to do this for years but wasn't tall enough."
