Happy Ending To Thomas Cook Affair
Updated : Aug 13, 2009
The dispute at Thomas Cook is over after the British company's Dublin workers accepted a revised redundancy offer from management today.
The new deal was negotiated by the company and the TSSA during talks at the Labour Relations Commission yesterday.
The workers accepted the offer after being briefed by their union representatives this morning.
Almost 80 workers are set to lose their jobs following Thomas Cook's decision to close its two Dublin outlets.
Many of them staged a five-day sit-in protest at the Grafton Street store last week to highlight their anger at the handling of the situation and the redundancy terms on offer.
They were eventually removed from the building by gardaà enforcing a court order.
