DareDevil Back Flips Across The Tower Bridge

Updated : Jul 14, 2009

Motorbike daredevil Robbie Maddison cross the river Themes in a very unique way- with a no-handed backflip over Tower Bridge.

The 27-year-old Australian became the first person to perform the feat over London's famous bridge, reports Sky News.

"We had a matter of minutes on the bridge and had to time everything to the second - there were so many factors to get right, but we pulled it off," Maddison said.

"It was an incredible feeling to fly between the two towers and over the Thames.

"People say I'm crazy, but I just want to push the boundaries of my sport and my body to the limit - and I love taking on these huge challenges."

Maddison said he had been planning the Thames leap since his last jump. That was off a ramp on to a life-size replica of the Arc de Triomphe in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve last year.

He also holds the record for the world's longest ever motorbike jump at 350.7ft.

The Australian is now preparing for a show at the Battersea Power Station on 22 August as part of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2009.
