Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin has promised to tackle the waiting list of youngsters in a bid to alleviate the crisis.
Health Minister Mary Harney revealed a meeting took place between the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the three children's hospitals in Dublin where it was agreed Crumlin would come back with a plan to address the needs of these patients "before year end", she said.
HSE chief Brendan Drumm, who is to appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children next week to be quizzed about Crumlin, is expected to outline the plan.
