Joe Dolan To Be Honoured

Updated : Jul 2, 2009

Taoiseach Brian Cowen is to honour singer Joe Dolan in his home town of Mullingar, Co Westmeath next month.

Thousands of the singer's fans are expected to turn up again when a life-sized sculpture of the singer is unveiled by Mr Cowen on Sunday, December 7 next.

Dolan became ill with a brain haemorrhage last Christmas night and died the following day in a Dublin hospital.

He was given a rousing send-off by his family, music colleagues, friends and fans before being laid to rest on December 28.

The sculpture has been constructed in bronze by artist Carl Payne in association with Genesis Fine Arts, Mullingar and will be located in the town centre on the Market Square.
