What A Corker, Cork Man Claim Big Lotto Win

Champagne flowed in National Lottery offices thisweek as a man from Cork claimed his winnings of €7,211,123 from the Lotto draw on Saturday 27 June 2009.
“I’ve won a few Euro before but nothing like this,†said the delighted man who travelled to Dublin with family to collect his winnings. The man from Cork, who wishes his win to remain private, bought his €12 Quickpick ticket at Dick’s Newsagents, Main Street, Charleville, Co Cork.
The numbers drawn were 3, 05, 26, 27, 39, 40 - the Bonus Number was 24.
“I haven’t slept since I found out on Monday that I had won,†he added. “I’ve checked the numbers at least 150 times. I just can’t believe it. Then I told my family, who didn’t believe me either!â€
The man regularly plays Lotto but says that up to now, winning it has always been like a dream. “I’m well over the moon,†he said “In fact, I haven’t come back from the moon since I found out my numbers came up!â€
Cork has experienced considerable luck in National Lottery draws recently with a €1 million EuroMillions Plus Extra draw top prize won on 19 June in Mallow. Yesterday, John and Marian Kennedy from Cork city claimed their €350,000 top prize from Lotto Plus 1 draw on 27 June last.
National Lottery good causes benefit from the Lotto draw, with one third of all sales (approx) going to fund Beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government.
Since the National Lottery was launched, over €3 billion has been raised for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation & Amenities; Health & Welfare; Arts, Culture & National Heritage and the Irish Language.
