Football Manager 48 Seasons In Charge
Updated : Jun 26, 2009
A football manager has outdone even Alex Ferguson as he prepares for his 48th season in charge of the same team at the age of 70.
Bobby Williams set up St Helena Bobs FC in 1962 with workmates from Portsmouth Docks, Hants.
He has won 340 trophies using 700 players - and is still going strong in the Portsmouth Saturday Premier League, reports The Sun.
He worked at the docks after moving from St Helena in the South Atlantic in 1959.
He said: "I love football and I love winning. Age is an asset for a manager - like Man United's Sir Alex Ferguson will tell you. I've considered quitting but there is nobody good enough to take over."
John White, 35, of Tangier Road, Portsmouth, who has played for Mr Williams for 17 years, said: "For a man of 70 to be doing it, he's amazing.
"He still runs up and down the line - he's a fantastic manager to have."
