Cricketer Bowled Out For Facebook Remarks!

Updated : Jun 8, 2009

Facebook material has come back to haunt in the most peculiar way once more after a club's cricket captain has been banned after making "unacceptable" remarks about opposition players on the social networking site.

An Irish county council candidate was recently the source of some media attention when “uncompromising yet playful pictures” of her on a night out were posted and now it seems the Facebook curse has struck again.

Captain Steve Smith of Llandudno Cricket Club in North Wales made the derogatory comments on the club's official page, reports The Sun.

Three club-mates have also been seriously chastised. Ajay Dhawan, Jack Rimmington and Elgan Rees Williams have all been bowled out for the rest of the season and two others have been reprimanded.

It's alleged Dhawan made threatening comments about another player.

The team was meant to play Hawarden Park last Saturday but had to forfeit the match and drop the points.

The punishments were handed out by the North Wales Cricket League management committee.

They said they had to take "immediate action to protect the reputation of the league and its members."

Unlike Bob Marley VeryHappyPig doesn’t like cricket, but you wont find that confession on our Facebook page as we fear a potential backlash!
