Party Come To Town

Updated : Jun 6, 2009

Dublin city businesses are in line for a much-needed boost thanks to the tens of thousands of fans attending the Dublin Meath match tomorrow.

Publicans are predicting that some 70,000 fans will attend the Croke Park Dublin double-header tomorrow -- with the football match against old rivals Meath the main attraction.

The Dublin hurlers will also be playing Co Down in the contest tomorrow the Evening Herald reports.

Watering holes in close proximity to the stadium, but quite a distance from the city centre, are believed to be among the worst hit by the recession. However, publicans are hoping that business will pick up from this weekend as the championship gets into full swing.

Renowned for their rivalry, fans from both counties are expected to be out in full force for tomorrow's clash.

However insiders are predicting the economic slump will have an affect on numbers tomorrow.

Publicans are predicting some 70,000 fans will still attend the game which will ensure tidy takings from the day.
