Uplifting Botox Story!
Updated : Jun 5, 2009
Irish owned international TV sports station Setanta Sports will give £100 to charity if certain over used and annoying football clichés are used during coverage of England’s World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan.
The popular sports network has compiled a survey of the most irritating clichés ever, with former Irish footballer and Leeds United manager David O’Leary’s favourite "At the end of the day" romping home to win with 18% of the votes.
It was followed by "On paper" and "A game of two halves", in second and third place respectively. "This game needs a goal" and "There are no easy games in international football" completed the top five.
Following the survey, the channel has announced that its coverage of England's World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan on Saturday will be a "cliché-free zone".
To encourage commentators Jon Champion and Chris Waddle to curb the clichés, Setanta is offering a donation to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
The donation will kick off at £5,000, but will be reduced by £100 every time the commentary team in Almaty utters one of the phrases that drive fans up the wall.
Former tricky winger and one-time mulleted pop star Waddle said, "It's all in a good cause and hopefully the viewers will enjoy the match and see that we're giving it 110%."
VeryHappyPig hopes messers Champion and Waddle get cliché tortes and hundreds of thousands are donated to the deserving charity.
VeryHappyPig says that’s an uplifting botox story! Mrs VeryHappyPig is considering the treatment and to be honest VHP would pay for any surgery she wanted. In fact if VHP had the money we would encourage her to have every type of surgery you can even a personality transplant if it was available!!
