Sunny Times

Updated : May 30, 2009

More than 280,000 passengers are expected to come and go through Dublin Airport over the course of the June bank holiday weekend. The good news, however for those staying is that you can find Mediterranean weather right here over the next few days.

More than 2,000 flights will arrive and depart during this period, including more than 160 charter flights to popular sun destinations such as mainland Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey.

But for those of us not jetting off, the good news is that it's time to slap on the sunscreen and dust off the barbecues as the bank holiday weekend turns into a scorcher.

Ireland may rival the Mediterranean as temperatures are expected to soar to between 20 and 24C throughout the country.

Met Eireann said that it will be mostly dry, warm and sunny, with the sun here to stay for a few days at least.
