Accenture To Bring 10 More Jobs To Ireland

Updated : May 29, 2009

International consultancy firm Accenture is to move its corporate headquarters from Bermuda to Ireland.

The group has decided to relocate its base to Dublin following criticism of companies incorporated in Bermuda, which is considered a tax haven.

In a letter to shareholders, the company said Ireland has long-established tax and trade agreements with the European Union.

The move is only expected to create 10 jobs.

Accenture, a New York-listed technology outsourcing and consulting firm, employs about 1,400 staff in this country.

Accenture is leading a rush to Europe of US companies changing their place of incorporation ahead of President Obama's clampdown on tax havens.

Accenture CEO William Green said: "A member of the European Union, Ireland offers a sophisticated, well-developed corporate, legal and regulatory environment.

"In addition, Ireland offers a stable political and economic environment and has the financial and legal infrastructure to meet Accenture's needs, both today and in the future."

Accenture said its "significant operations and a substantial presence" in Ireland has grown rapidly in recent years.

The firm plans to continue its registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

If the move is approved by shareholders, a new Irish company, Accenture plc, will replace the Bermuda company, Accenture Ltd.
