Lotto Heads For €12 Million
Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is heading for a massive €12 million.
This jackpot has been rolling since Wednesday 22 April 2009. The largest jackpot of the year so far reached over €14.5 million. That jackpot was won by a lucky Glenageary couple in April.
Since the Lotto game began in 1988, over €1.7 billion has been won in Lotto jackpots. The 16-strong Dan Morrissey group from Carlow made Lotto history last year when they won the largest Lotto jackpot ever, worth €18,963,441.
National Lottery good causes benefit from the Lotto draw, as approximately one third of all sales fund beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government. Since the National Lottery was launched, over €3 billion has been raised for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation & Amenities; Health & Welfare; Arts, Culture & National Heritage and the Irish Language.
