An Irishman look set to succeed in a bid to log his Mount Everest Climb on internet social networking site Twitter.
Gavin bate from Belfast, is on his fifth attempt to scale the famous mountain and hopes to send the worlds highest tweet for charity within the next day or so.
Bate, who runs a trekking firm in Portstewart, Co Derry, is posting details of his ascent on Twitter via a satellite phone.
He has so far revealed that his mammoth challenge almost ended when one of the two guides died after drinking poisoned boot leg whiskey.
But a push to the summit was only delayed not postponed and the Irish man looks set to tweet from the top soon.
Bate has raise over €68,000 for his moving mountains charity, which he set up in 2001 to help build schools, hospitals and monasteries in Nepal and Kenya.
