Ireland Swine Flu Free
Updated : May 7, 2009
Ireland has effectively been declared clear of swine flu after the man at the centre of the country's only confirmed case was given a clean bill of health.
The man contracted the virus in Mexico, where scores of people have died from the illness, but his symptoms were said to be relatively mild.
The health authorities say Ireland now has no confirmed or probably cases of the virus.
The HSE is currently preparing an official radio broadcast to coincide with the nationwide distribution of 2.5 million information leaflets on swine flu and how to prevent its spread.
