No Further Confirmed Or Probable Cases of Swine Flu In Ireland.

Updated : May 5, 2009

The Department of Health and Children confirmed on May 2nd that the probable case of influenza type A (H1N1) virus in Ireland was now confirmed positive. However, since then no further probable or confirmed cases have been identified.

The HSE’s new information service for the public on Influenza A(H1N1) has received hundreds of calls over the weekend, since being launched last Friday May 1. The Flu Information Line is a 24 hour Freephone information service, which provides up-to-date recorded information on the A(H1N1) Flu, its symptoms, what to do if you are worried, and current travel advice from the Department of Health and Children.
You can call the Flu Information Line 24 hours a day on Freephone 1800 94 11 00.

This service is being provided to answer the most commonly asked questions about this new flu virus. The recorded information will be updated as required, and will allow large numbers of callers to access the most up-to-date information without delay.

The Flu Information Line gives details of the symptoms of influenza A(H1N1) virus. It tells callers what to do if they have recently travelled to or from an affected area and are worried about feeling unwell. It also gives any updated travel advice from the Department of Health.

The Flu Information Line directs callers who have specific queries to this website, where all the most recent and detailed information on the flu is posted. If callers need to speak to the HSE for a specific query, the Flu Information Line directs them to the HSE infoline on 1850 24 1850, where a HSE customer service staff member will be able to assist them

The HSE and the Department of Health have also completed a detailed Information and Medical Advice Leafletfor the public on the influenza A(H1N1) virus.
