Hovione, which makes pharmaceutical ingredients, has taken over the former Pfizer manufacturing plant at Loughbeg in Ringaskiddy.
IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary said the arrival of the Lisbon-based firm showed Ireland continues to attract foreign direct investment.
“Ireland continues to be a prime location for projects from across all sectors,†Mr O’Leary said.
Hovione executive Miguel Calado said it chose Ringaskiddy because of its location in the heart of Ireland’s pharmaceutical industry in east Co Cork.
Mr O’Leary said: “This investment displays Ireland’s ongoing ability to secure high-value investments in global foreign direct investment.â€
Horvione already has plants across Europe, the US and Asia.
