Government to Help Homeless
Homelessness charities are welcoming plans by the Government to rent private houses in an effort to get people out of emergency accommodation.
Reports this morning say the Government is planning to rent up to 300 homes around the country for use as long-term accommodation by homeless people.
The move will reportedly cater for around one-sixth of the people currently living in emergency hostels and B&Bs.
The Simon Community says the move is a significant step in the right direction
Jobs Target For Louth
An economic study has set an "ambitious but achievable" target of creating 12,000 jobs in Co Louth over the next six years.
This study by Indecon International Economic Consultants provides a blueprint for the newly-formed Louth Economic Forum, which is being chaired by former IDA director Padraic White.
R&D, science and the internationally traded services sector are all highlighted as having potential for employment growth in the region.
Louth's proximity to the M1 and Dublin Airport are also listed as a key advantage
Dublin Port Cruises To Record
A record 83 cruise ships carrying a total of more than 75,000 passengers are due to dock in Dublin Port this year.
The arrival of the ships will generate up to €55m for the local economy.
The first big liner - the $450m Grand Princess, which accommodates more than 2,500 passengers - reached the port this morning.
