Very Happy Pig was all excited when news of pirates broke recently. We got visions Black Beard, Jack Sparrow and co sailing the high seas and living out wondrous adventures.
By all accounts that isn’t the case and the ordeals are quiet horrendous for those involved, but here at Very Happy Pig we found a more positive pirate story to share with our cheer seeking readers.
In an interview with the Daily Star a former Irish Sailor revealed how he defeated pirates with plain old water.
Colin McCusker battled bandits at sea in Malacca Straits, just off the coast of Indonesia.
“The major run in we had with the pirates was in 1968. We went to Buenos Aires topick up a load of frozen pork and we sailed across the south Atlantic into the Indian Ocean and through the Malacca straits,†he explained.
“Those waters are very troubled and not very safe at all, so we were on guard all of the time. There were small canoes coming towards us. We sounded the alarm and got everyone out on deck and we manned the hoses. They tired to board the ship but we set the hoses on them and blew them into the water. We managed to beat them at there own game and afterwards went on the piss to celebrate.â€
