Mystery Donor Saves Little Girl

A miracle tot is gearing up to celebrate the birthday her family believed she'd never reach, thanks to a life-saving liver transplant .
Little Elizabeth Murphy will turn three this Easter Monday despite doctors telling her shocked parents she had just two weeks to live at eight-weeks-old. However, the beautiful little girl from north county Dublin is now enjoying a normal life.
Her mum Suzie has spoken of how grateful she and her husband John are for the donation that saved their daughter's life. "There isn't a day that goes by that we're not grateful for the gift we were given," she said.
Suzie is speaking about the family's experience during Organ Donor Awareness Week to highlight the plight of people with organ failure and how organ donation can be a wonderful legacy. "We are one of the lucky ones," she said. She urged families to discuss the issue of organ donation.
Organ Donor Awareness Week is organised by the Irish Kidney Association and supported by the Irish Donor Network. It continues until Saturday, April 4. There are over 600 people in Ireland awaiting life-saving transplant operations.
