Cancer Fighting Diet Of Mushrooms And Green Tea

Updated : Mar 18, 2009

A daily diet of mushrooms and green tea has been proven to significantly lower the risk of developing breast cancer in women.

The study was done on more than 2,000 Chinese women and carried out by experts at the University of Western Australia in Perth. They discovered that the more fresh and dried mushrooms the women ate, the lower their breast cancer risk was. A similar relation was recognized between breast cancer and green tea.

Prior studies have stated that mushroom extracts have anti-tumor properties and can support the immune system’s cancer defences in animals.

Dr Julie Sharp of Cancer Research UK said: "Both green tea and mushrooms have previously been reported to lower cancer risk and while this study adds to the evidence, more research is needed to confirm these observations and find out if they are relevant to UK women.

VeryHappyPig says everyone should start eating more mushrooms and drinking more green tea, you never know!
